Atkinson Elected to BSA National Advisory Group

At the most recent meeting of BSA Council Service Territory 15 (CST-15) Council Presidents and Chairs, the group elected Dan Atkinson, a member of Wilkes Atkinson & Joyner, LLC, as the new Local Council Chair Cabinet Member representing CST-15. The Local Council Chair Cabinet is a group of 16 Council Chairs and/or Presidents who advise BSA National Chair Brad Tilden, and who represent the interests of local councils in the operation of the BSA. The group is an informal cabinet, to provide feedback and guidance on actions being considered by the BSA’s National Executive Board.

CST-15 consists of nineteen councils, including all four exclusively in South Carolina, one which serves counties in Georgia and South Carolina, all ten councils exclusively in North Carolina, three councils exclusively in Virginia, and one council which includes territory in North Carolina and Virginia.

Dan Atkinson is beginning his second year of service as President of the Palmetto Council, which serves approximately 3,300 youth members and 1,100 adult volunteers in Cherokee, Chester, Lancaster, Spartanburg, Union and York Counties. He also serves as Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 22, Troop Committee Chair for Scouts BSA Girl Troop 22, and as Troop Committee Member for Scouts BSA Boy Troop 22, all of which are chartered to the United Methodist Men of Trinity United Methodist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He previously served as a Council Executive Board Member in the Blue Ridge Council, headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina.
